Week 49: The Miracles Seen After the Trial of our Faith

Hello family:)

I miss you all and love you very much! I had a rough moment this week and just wanted to let you know how much I care about each and everyone of you!

We just got back from a butterfly museum that was SO COOL. Who knew there were so many beautiful yet disgusting BUGS! God's creations are so cool. Ha just before that we went to a copy center to ask where the museum was and ran into a professional basketball player named Darnell from San Jose. He gave us free tickets to his basketball game! BALLIN'.

Well as you know Monday night was the big day! Dropping the family Josse... BAH. In the car we rehearsed a little bit what we were going to say because we did not have sufficient time to practice beforehand and needless to say WE WERE NERVOUS! Well, we got there and had a wonderful birthday dinner with them :) I made them an american cake and they ate it but no one commented... awkward ha. Not sure they liked it too much. The little boy just said it was "Beuf" not even sure how to spell that. Ha but we made sure to take lots of pictures because we knew what was coming.

The lesson went well. They responded exactly how we had imagined. They hadn't kept their engagements and so we tried to help them understand WHY we give them engagements! Well, after talking about sacrifice and DIGGING for our testimonies, we left them with three options. 1) Keep the commitments and open up to us 2) Prepare Virginie to be baptized (i dont think they had EVER thought of that option before) and 3) Taking a pause. We told them that we loved them and that we wanted them to create the spirit in their homes for themselves. Well, they told Marie that they were going to take a pause from the missionaries and the church....but we have already heard that they've been doing more research on their own! So that's good. Mickael ALSO said that he knows the church is true and he has gotten answers, just not the ones he wants.. BOOO. So sad. It was cool because we all felt really calm and peaceful and I really felt as though we were telling them the Lord's words.

Josse Family
We did lots and lots of finding at the beginning of the week in the freezing cold. I was sick and it was rough. Just hard. BUT, there is always a but, on Wednesday we visited a TON of less actives and one investigator (who is super cool but not super interested). It was a great day and 7 less actives/recent converts that we teach ended up coming to church! WAHOOO. MIRACLE.

On Thursday we woke up nice and early to go to Versaille for the conference to hear Elder Kearon speak. He was amazing and told some extremely touching stories and was so loving. He really motivated me to be positive and to work on myself during my mission, IT'S THE BEST TIME! Pres gave me a hint that Sister Vance and I will probably be separated BOOO. I love my comp. We have made good goals together and she is really helping me becoming the best me.

Sister Vance and I at a Conference to Hear Elder Kearon of the First Quorum of the Seventies
So after the conference on Thursday, we got home pretty late and the water in our toilet wasn't flowing and I HAD TO GO. Like bad and it was like 9:30 or 10:00 p.m.. So we decided to ask our neighbor, the one that knocked on our door and has the interested son, if we could use her toilet. Well, Alexandra brought the church up by herself! We answered the son's questions, offered to have an FHE and teach them! They said yes! We taught them about prayer and asked if we could say a kneeling one together. They agreed and we kneeled in a circle. I offered the prayer and the spirit was so strong. I prayed for their needs, one of which was Logan's desire to always love his mom... SO CUTE. We asked them how they felt and they said warm and like God was so close. Logan said that he could see Jesus. How adorable and moving. I was tearing up. Well the next morning before we could get our toilet fixed we went back and they said that they had both said their personal prayers to thank God for sending us! Beautiful!

We told the ward on Friday about the family Josse. They were all very understanding and kind about. They are still inviting them to their homes and the church activities. :) Love this ward.

Saturday was another day of finding in the cold but guess what???? WE FOUND! One new investigator on our own and then another is a friend of a recent convert, Elizabeth, in the ward. Her name is Isabelle and you're going to die laughing at this story. We were teaching Isabelle and her kids are just crazy and loud and everywhere. They boy that is 4 dropped his pen and started screaming. Sister Vance, not wanting to spoil the child and in the nicest voice ever, showed him where the pen was and told him to pick it up. Well he wouldn't bend his knees to pick it up and it was frustrating Sister Vance so she pushed the pen closer to him so he could reach it. It struggled and was still screaming but finally picked it up on his own. A little later Isabelle was saying that her son is out of school for 2 weeks because he was circumcised that day.... AHHAHAHAHAH that's why the poor boy couldn't bend down and was screaming. Oh man, Sister Vance's face was priceless after she realized. Never Judge Right?

Well after showing our faith and dropping the most beautiful family, Heavenly Father blessed us by doubling our lessons this week and WE GOT 4 NEW INVESTIGATORS! The miracle always comes. Patience is the key.

I love you all and I'm so proud of you! Thanks for all of the support that you've given me and give me today!

Love,

Soeur Kohlert

Keeping a Positive Attitude!
